NSCEA Commends Trump, Tinubu for Joint Action Against ISIS in Nigeria

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) has issued a strong commendation to President Donald J. Trump of the United States and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria for their coordinated military action against ISIS-linked terrorists in Nigeria.

In a press release signed by Bishop Professor Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, Secretary of the Elders’ Council, the NSCEA praised the recent U.S. airstrikes in Sokoto State, conducted with Nigerian government approval, as a “decisive and morally responsible intervention.”

The Council highlighted the years of unchecked violence, particularly against Christian communities, and welcomed President Trump’s “moral clarity” in acknowledging and confronting religious persecution. It also commended President Tinubu for authorizing the cooperation, demonstrating that “national security and protection of lives must supersede political sensitivities.”

NSCEA emphasized that terrorism is an enemy of all humanity and called for sustained international cooperation, stronger intelligence sharing, and accountability for terror sponsors.

The statement concluded by urging the Nigerian government to maintain momentum, ensure transparency, and protect human rights while dismantling terror networks within the country.
