UMUAHIA – Former Governor of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji, has applauded the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, for his exemplary performance at the National Assembly.
Orji, who represented Abia Central in the 8th and 9th Senate, gave the commendation on Friday when Kalu paid him a New Year courtesy visit at his Umuahia residence.
In his remarks, Orji emphasized the collective responsibility of all Abians to ensure the state’s progress, describing Kalu as a worthy representative.
“Abia is our state, it’s our collective responsibility to ensure that our state works above other states… You’re doing well at the National Assembly. I wish you long life and prosperity,” Orji stated.
Earlier, Deputy Speaker Kalu congratulated Orji on his recent defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and expressed President Bola Tinubu’s appreciation for the move.
Kalu noted that Orji’s experience and influence would be vital in strengthening the party and fostering development in Abia and Nigeria at large.
“We believe in building the community, the states that build the nation… We are going to leverage your wealth of experience and spread of contacts and loyalty base,” Kalu said.
The Deputy Speaker also presented a brochure detailing his legislative achievements to the former governor.
The visit underscores ongoing political bridge-building and alignment within Abia State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
