Abia APC Passes Vote of Confidence on Benjamin Kalu as Party Leader, Warns Against Parallel Structures

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, describing him as the “duly recognized and undisputed leader” of the party in the state.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the party thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support during the Abia APC Congress and praised the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for ensuring a peaceful and successful congress.

“Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu remains the duly recognized and undisputed leader of the APC in Abia State,” the statement read.

The party warned that “any individual or group parading themselves as leaders of the party in the state does so at their own risk,” vowing to resist any attempt to sow division or create parallel structures.

“We hereby pass a resounding vote of confidence in his leadership, capacity, and commitment to lead the APC to victory at all levels in the 2027 general elections,” the statement concluded.

The declaration follows recent leadership claims by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who cited a directive from President Tinubu to coordinate party affairs in Abia. Political observers now see a brewing tussle as both leaders assert control ahead of the 2027 elections.
