Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has announced the approval for establishing a ‘Mini-Hollywood’ entertainment village in Aba and an arts and culture gallery in Umuahia, as part of his administration’s push to develop the creative industry.
The Governor made the announcement on Saturday in Umuahia during a state-organized celebration for music legend, Sir Bright Chimezie, who clocked 65. Governor Otti praised Chimezie, renowned as the “Duke of African Music,” for his immense contribution to promoting Igbo language and culture.
“We are not competing with California, but we will do our own at our own level,” Otti stated regarding the planned Aba entertainment village. He charged creative citizens to engage with the State’s Ministry of Arts to actualize the vision. The Governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to celebrating genuine achievers while condemning ill-gotten wealth.
