Abia Lawmaker Erondu Jnr Declares for Abia South Senate Seat, Meets APC Officials

Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, the member representing Obingwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has officially announced his intention to vie for the Senate seat of Abia South Senatorial District.

The declaration was made on Monday, April 27, 2026, during a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) party officials in Obingwa Local Government Area. Erondu Jnr formally notified the party leadership of his ambition to represent the district at the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Erondu, who has served his constituency with a focus on grassroots development and youth empowerment, is seen by supporters as a fresh voice capable of consolidating the APC’s presence in Abia South. The senatorial district comprises six local government areas, including Obingwa, Aba North, Aba South, Ugwunagbo, Osisioma Ngwa, and Isiala Ngwa South.

In his address to party officials, the lawmaker pledged to run an issue-based campaign anchored on effective representation, infrastructural development, and human capital growth. He called on party faithful to support his aspiration, promising not to disappoint if given the mandate.

Political observers note that Erondu Jnr’s entry into the race adds a new dimension to the Abia South senatorial contest, which is expected to witness intense competition ahead of the APC primaries.
