Adamawa Court Fines ADC Governorship Candidate ₦3 Million Over Illegal Campaign Posters

An Adamawa State court has fined the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ₦3 million for the unlawful display of campaign posters in violation of the state’s environmental and electoral regulations.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the court ruled that the campaign posters were placed in unauthorised public locations without obtaining the required approvals, contrary to the applicable laws.

According to the court, political parties and candidates are expected to comply with all regulations governing campaign activities, including the proper use of public spaces for political advertisements.

The judgment serves as a reminder that electoral campaigns must be conducted within the confines of the law, with authorities stressing that no political party or candidate is above the law.

The development comes as political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum across the country, prompting renewed calls for compliance with electoral and environmental regulations.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the ruling reinforces the need for candidates and political parties to conduct issue-based campaigns while adhering to all legal requirements.
