ADC Concludes Convention, Amends Constitution, Ratifies Mark-Led NWC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has successfully concluded its national convention, where key resolutions including constitutional amendments and the ratification of the Chief Ralphs Okey Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC) were adopted.

The convention, which held in Abuja over the weekend, witnessed a large turnout of delegates from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Party faithful gathered to chart a new course for the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Among the major decisions taken, the party amended its constitution to streamline leadership succession processes, enhance internal democracy, and strengthen disciplinary mechanisms. The amendments, according to party officials, are designed to prevent future leadership crises and ensure greater transparency in party affairs.

The convention also ratified the NWC led by Chief Ralphs Okey Mark, effectively ending months of leadership uncertainty following the court-induced exit of former chairman Nafiu Bala. The ratification consolidates Mark’s position as the authentic national chairman of the ADC.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Mark thanked delegates for their confidence and called for unity among all factions. “The era of distractions is over. We are now focused on building a formidable ADC that will offer Nigerians a credible alternative in 2027,” he said.

Political observers note that the successful convention positions the ADC as a party to watch, especially as discontent with the major political platforms grows. The party has also zoned its presidential ticket to the South East, fueling speculation about potential candidates.
