Prominent activist and former #EndSARS campaigner, Aisha Yesufu, has launched a scathing attack on the National Leader of the National Development Council (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, accusing him of prioritising personal ambition over the party’s electoral prospects.
Speaking via her official X handle on Saturday, Yesufu did not hold back, declaring that Dickson had turned the NDC into a “one-man show” rather than a serious political movement capable of challenging the ruling APC in 2027.
“You have made the party about yourself, not about winning 2027,” Yesufu wrote. “NDC was supposed to be a coalition of progressives, but instead, it has become a vehicle for personal ego. That is not how you unseat an incumbent.”
The activist’s outburst follows growing discontent within opposition circles over the NDC’s leadership structure, which critics say lacks internal democracy. While Yesufu did not specify whether she is a member of the NDC, her remarks have ignited fresh debate about the party’s readiness for the next general election.
Senator Dickson, a former Bayelsa State governor, is yet to officially respond to the allegations. However, sources close to the NDC leadership described Yesufu’s comments as “uninformed and unwarranted.”
Political analysts warn that if opposition parties fail to present a united front, President Tinubu’s re-election bid could face little resistance. Yesufu, however, insisted that she remains committed to holding all leaders accountable, regardless of party affiliation.
