Akpoti-Uduaghan Urges Supreme Court to Dismiss Akpabio’s Appeal⁰

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has filed a counter-affidavit urging the Supreme Court to dismiss the appeal filed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio against her suspension challenge.

In her filing, she highlighted alleged procedural breaches, noting that Akpabio’s brief of argument exceeded the 35-page limit prescribed by the Court of Appeal Rules, 2021, and was not regularized within the allowed timeframe.

She also argued that the appeal grounds raised issues of mixed law and fact, requiring prior leave of court—which she claims Akpabio did not obtain, rendering the appeal incompetent.

Akpoti-Uduaghan further defended the Court of Appeal’s handling of the case, stating that adjournment decisions were within judicial discretion and that fair hearing was not denied.

She described the appeal as an attempt to delay or frustrate the delivery of judgment.
