Analyst Demands Verifiable Evidence of N600bn Abia Projects

An Abia-born Scotland-based public commentator and financial analyst, Eke O Ako (also known as Ek Steve), has raised serious concerns over the administration of Governor Alex Otti, questioning the transparency, cost efficiency, and verifiable impact of projects executed since he assumed office.

In a detailed analysis, the analyst demanded that the state government provide verifiable evidence of projects corresponding to the approximately N600 billion in capital expenditure reported between 2023 and 2025.

Ako specifically called for the publication of contracts, commissioning photos, independent audits, and geo-tagged project locations to back the government’s claims of infrastructure development across the 17 local government areas.

“Where are the projects? Abians need to see value for the billions spent. Transparency should not be optional,” Ako stated.

His critique adds to growing public discourse on the visibility of the Otti administration’s infrastructure push, which has seen over 80% of annual budgets allocated to capital projects.

The Abia State Government has yet to respond to the analyst’s demands. However, officials have previously maintained that over 600 kilometres of roads have been rehabilitated, along with ongoing work in healthcare, education, and urban renewal.

As the debate intensifies, stakeholders continue to call for more detailed public reporting on project execution and expenditure.
