The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially retained Vice President Kashim Shettima as the running mate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, ending months of speculation over the composition of the party’s presidential ticket.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the decision was announced during a ceremony in Abuja, where the completed presidential nomination forms of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima were formally presented by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) ahead of submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The formal unveiling puts to rest widespread rumours that the APC might replace Shettima with another candidate ahead of the 2027 elections. Senior party leaders described the renewed Tinubu-Shettima ticket as a demonstration of unity and confidence in the administration’s leadership.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the APC leadership expressed optimism about its chances in the 2027 general election, citing the party’s nationwide structure, membership strength, and the achievements of the Tinubu administration as key factors behind its confidence.
Political analysts say the confirmation of Shettima’s place on the ticket is expected to shape the political landscape as parties intensify preparations for the forthcoming general election.
