ABUJA — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has executed a dramatic U-turn, reinstating former Bayelsa East Senator Ben Murray-Bruce and four other aspirants who were previously disqualified, clearing them to participate in the party’s forthcoming senatorial primary election.
The reversal, which came after a series of appeals and internal consultations within the party, was confirmed by APC officials who stated that the screening committee’s earlier decision had been reviewed and overturned in favour of the affected aspirants.
Murray-Bruce, the media mogul and former lawmaker who represented Bayelsa East in the Senate, had been among those initially excluded from the primary process. His clearance alongside four others signals a significant shift in the party’s position and is expected to intensify competition ahead of the primary.
