APC Sets Stage for Saturday Convention with Zonal Elections

ABUJA, NIGERIA – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully concluded zonal congresses across the country’s six geopolitical zones, setting the stage for the party’s national convention scheduled for Saturday, March 28.

The zonal elections, held on Wednesday and Thursday, saw party delegates elect new zonal executive committees, completing a crucial step in the party’s internal reorganization process. The exercises were conducted peacefully in most zones, with party leaders commending the orderly conduct of members.

In the South-South zone, which held its congress in Asaba, Victor Giadom was reelected as Zonal Vice Chairman, while Samuel Nwanosike emerged as Zonal Publicity Secretary. Other zones also produced new executives, with consensus arrangements adopted in several regions.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the zonal congresses as a “resounding success” and expressed confidence that the national convention would proceed without hitches.

“The party is united and ready. We have laid a solid foundation for a transparent and credible convention,” Morka stated.

The national convention, which will elect new leaders for the ruling party, is seen as a critical precursor to the 2027 general elections. Delegates from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are expected to converge in Abuja for the event.
