JERUSALEM, ISRAEL – Israel has launched a major military operation targeting a key Russia-Iran weapons supply line in the Caspian Sea, striking dozens of targets including warships, port infrastructure, and a command center at Iran’s Bandar Anzali port.
The operation, confirmed by Israeli defense sources, marks Israel’s first known attack on the Caspian Sea region. The strikes were aimed at disrupting a logistics corridor used to transport drones, ammunition, and other military equipment between Russia and Iran.
According to military officials, the precision strikes successfully hit multiple vessels and facilities associated with the weapons supply chain. The operation is intended to limit Iranian naval capabilities in the region and curb Russia’s ability to support Tehran with advanced military technology.
“This was a strategic strike to sever a critical supply line that threatens regional stability,” an Israeli defense source said.
Iranian state media has confirmed explosions near Bandar Anzali but has not yet released details on casualties or damage. Russia has condemned the attack, calling it a “dangerous escalation.”
The strike comes amid heightened tensions following a series of exchanges between Israel and Iran-backed forces across the Middle East. The Caspian Sea operation signals a significant expansion of Israel’s military reach.
