(Kaduna, Nigeria) – In a significant development for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke is set to be appointed as the new Chief of the Air Staff. The highly decorated officer, currently serving as the Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, is expected to be promoted to the rank of Air Marshal in the coming days.
AVM Aneke brings a wealth of experience to the role. A distinguished pilot with over 4,359 flying hours, he is qualified to fly a variety of aircraft, including the Falcon 900, Gulfstream V, and Dornier-228. His career spans over three decades, featuring a wide array of command, administrative, and instructional appointments.
His postings have included key roles such as Commander of the 307 Executive Air Lift Group in Abuja, Chief of Staff at the Air Training Command, and Director of Safety at the NAF Headquarters. AVM Aneke is also a prolific scholar, holding multiple master’s degrees in fields like International Affairs, Strategic Studies, and Political Economy.
Born in Makurdi, Benue State, and hailing from Enugu State, AVM Sunday Aneke is married to Mrs. Ngozi Enderline Aneke, and they are blessed with three children.
