Abuja, Nigeria — Leading contender in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) presidential election, Mazi Afam Osigwe Badejo-Okusanya, has extended his lead as voter turnout surpassed 21,000, according to results released during the ongoing electronic voting process.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the high turnout reflects strong participation by legal practitioners across the country in one of the most closely watched NBA elections in recent years. The election is being conducted electronically to ensure transparency, accessibility, and credibility.
The NBA presidential election determines the leadership of the association, which plays a key role in promoting the rule of law, protecting the independence of the judiciary, and advancing the interests of legal practitioners in Nigeria. This year’s election has attracted significant attention due to the calibre of candidates and the issues surrounding legal reforms and the administration of justice.
“The election process remains transparent and credible, and all eligible members are encouraged to continue participating in accordance with the NBA Electoral Committee guidelines,” an election update from the electoral process stated.
CDA News Nigeria reports that vote collation is continuing, with the Electoral Committee expected to announce the final results after the completion of voting and verification. Candidates and their supporters have been urged to remain peaceful and await the official declaration.
