Bauchi Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Vandalising JEDC Transformer at Bogoro General Hospital

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Monday Dauda, for allegedly vandalising a Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) transformer in Bogoro Local Government Area.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the suspect was arrested while allegedly trying to steal an armoured cable from the transformer, which is located within the premises of Bogoro General Hospital.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

According to Habib, the incident happened at about 12:30 am on October 8, 2026, when a patrol team from the Bogoro Divisional Headquarters was on a routine confidence-building patrol in the town.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the statement, as received, did not give details of how the patrol team intercepted the suspect, what items were recovered, or whether he has been charged. It also did not say whether the transformer’s damage affected power supply to the hospital.

Vandalism of electrical infrastructure has been a recurring concern in Bauchi State, where the distribution company has previously raised alarm over attacks on its cables.

The suspect has not been tried, and the allegations against him remain unproven in court.

CDA News Nigeria will update this story as more information emerges.
