1. Troops rescue wife of late General Abubakar Rabe in Katsina
The Defence Headquarters has announced the successful rescue of Mrs Amina Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Abubakar Rabe (rtd), former Director of Defence Information, following a fierce encounter between troops and bandits. Director of Defence Information Maj.-Gen Samaila Uba said the rescue was achieved during intensified search-and-rescue operations .
2. FG resumes mass prosecution of 600 terrorism suspects
The Federal Government resumed the mass prosecution of terrorism suspects before a Federal High Court in Abuja following an earlier exercise in which about 500 were prosecuted. In the exercise that commenced on Monday, about 600 would be put on trial, according to AGF Lateef Fagbemi .

Justice Peter Lifu ordered INEC to deregister the affected parties for failing to secure 25% of votes in the last general elections.

In a circular to fuel marketers on Monday, the refinery said the adjustment followed the de-escalation of tension in the Middle East, which had impacted energy prices in the past three months .
8. Commercial bus driver dies after alleged beating by Air Force officers
A 43-year-old commercial bus driver, Joseph Okpe, has died after he was allegedly beaten by a group of officers of the Nigerian Air Force following a dispute over a minor traffic incident involving their vehicle. The incident occurred on May 9 along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway .
9. Anambra Police arrest two for producing adulterated alcoholic beverages
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the production and distribution of adulterated alcoholic beverages in the state. The suspects were arrested in the early hours of Monday by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad/VCRU following credible intelligence .

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has faulted Monday’s judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja which deregistered five political parties, describing it as an abuse of court process and a direct violation of a subsisting order of the Court of Appeal. The statement was issued by the governor’s spokesperson Olawale Rasheed .
