Christian-Christian Ticket Will One Day Win Nigeria’s Presidency, Says Gov. Sule

Lafia, Nasarawa State — Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has expressed confidence that a Christian-Christian presidential ticket could one day emerge victorious in Nigeria, stressing that competence and national unity should take precedence over religious considerations.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the governor made the remarks while speaking on Nigeria’s evolving political landscape, noting that the country’s democratic process continues to mature and that voters may increasingly prioritize leadership qualities above religious identity.

According to Sule, Nigerians are capable of making electoral decisions based on merit, performance and national interest. He urged political leaders to promote unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence regardless of religious or ethnic differences.

“A Christian-Christian ticket will one day win Nigeria’s presidency. What should matter most is competence, capacity and the ability to unite the country,” Sule said.

The governor’s comments have generated discussions among political observers and stakeholders, particularly as political parties begin consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections. Analysts say debates over religious balance and inclusiveness are likely to remain central to Nigeria’s electoral politics.

No major political party has announced its presidential ticket for the 2027 election, and political consultations are expected to continue in the months ahead.
