Court Orders Remand of Anambra Couple Over Alleged Assault of 10-Year-Old

A court in Anambra State has ordered the remand of a couple in prison custody over the alleged battering of a 10-year-old child.

The defendants were arraigned following allegations that they subjected the minor to physical abuse, an incident that reportedly drew the attention of authorities and child protection advocates.

During proceedings, the court ordered that the couple be remanded pending the hearing of the case and further legal processes. Prosecutors argued that the allegations against the defendants were serious and required a thorough investigation.

The development has sparked public concern, with many Nigerians calling for stronger measures to protect children from abuse and exploitation.

Child rights advocates have welcomed the court’s action, stressing the need for justice and the protection of vulnerable children across the country.

The case has been adjourned to a later date, when the court is expected to continue hearing evidence and arguments from both parties.
