The Federal High Court in Jos has restrained Jonathan Akuns from presenting himself as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Plateau State for the 2027 election.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Justice S.T. Ishaya issued the order on September 28 after an ex parte application by governorship aspirant Alfred Dapal, who is challenging the party’s nomination process. The order bars Akuns from announcing, publishing, or otherwise holding himself out as the NDC candidate until the suit is heard and determined. December 15 at its secretariat in Dogon Karfe, Jos North Local Government Area.
He is also asking the court for further orders. He wants the NDC stopped from replacing, withdrawing or removing him, and from submitting Akuns’ name to INEC. He also wants INEC barred from accepting or recognising Akuns’ name as the party’s candidate.
