Media entrepreneur and political commentator, Dele Momodu, has declared that Nigeria’s opposition is largely unprepared to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement on his social media platform, Momodu asserted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar remains the only opposition figure with the requisite structure, strategy, and seriousness for the race.
“I often wonder how some opposition Presidential aspirants can think of knocking out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027… when they have not even come together to agree on a common strategy,” Momodu wrote.
He described Atiku as “meticulously and practically pursuing his dreams,” noting that defeating an incumbent would require a massive war chest and nationwide support, which he believes only Atiku is currently positioned to muster.
Momodu also repeated his earlier claim that Tinubu’s recent order to withdraw police escorts from VIPs was politically motivated, specifically targeting Atiku.
