Ebonyi NUJ Urges Politicians to Embrace Issue-Based Campaigns Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Ebonyi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called on political parties and aspirants to focus on issue-based campaigns as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the union urged politicians to avoid campaigns rooted in hate speech, personal attacks, and misinformation, stressing that public discourse should center on policies, governance, and development.

The NUJ emphasized that issue-driven campaigns would enable voters to make informed decisions while promoting peaceful elections and strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.

The council also appealed to political supporters to conduct themselves responsibly throughout the electioneering period and avoid actions capable of inciting violence or disrupting public order.

It further encouraged journalists to uphold the ethics of the profession by ensuring balanced, factual, and responsible reporting before, during, and after the elections.

The call comes amid growing political activities across the country ahead of the 2027 polls, with stakeholders advocating peaceful participation and greater civic engagement.
