Eddie Howe Steps Down as Newcastle United Head Coach

Eddie Howe has stepped down as head coach of Newcastle United, bringing an end to his nearly five-year spell in charge of the Premier League club.

CDA News Nigeria independently verified that Eddie Howe leaves Newcastle after informing the club of his decision to step aside. CDA News Nigeria gathered the news from the report.

Howe took charge of Newcastle in November 2021 when the club was battling relegation. During his tenure, he transformed the Magpies into a competitive side, guiding them to Champions League qualification and ending the club’s long wait for a major domestic trophy with the Carabao Cup triumph.

Reports indicate that the 48-year-old decided to take a break from football following a difficult 2025/26 campaign, which saw Newcastle finish 12th in the Premier League despite significant investment and major squad changes.

CDA News Nigeria reports that Eddie Howe leaves Newcastle with the club already preparing for a new era. Reports suggest that Al Ahli manager Matthias Jaissle is the leading candidate to replace the Englishman, although an official appointment is yet to be confirmed.
