BENIN CITY – The Edo State Government has issued a one-week ultimatum to former Deputy Governor Godwin Omobayo, demanding the immediate return of all government properties still in his possession.
The directive was announced on Tuesday in a statement by Governor Monday Okpebholo’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua.
According to the government, official vehicles, documents, and other state-owned assets assigned to Omobayo during his tenure have not been surrendered despite previous reminders.
The government stated that retaining the properties is a “clear breach of public trust.” It gave Omobayo seven days to return all items to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
Failure to comply within the stipulated period will lead the government to “direct the Commissioner of Police to effect his arrest” for the immediate recovery of the assets.
The administration reiterated its commitment to accountability, ensuring all public officers are held to the highest standards.
