The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Blessing Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, before a Lagos High Court on charges bordering on alleged fraud involving the sum of N36 million.
The popular relationship coach and entrepreneur was docked before the court following a petition received by the anti-graft agency from an alleged victim who claimed to have been defrauded of the said amount.
According to the charge sheet, Blessing CEO allegedly obtained the funds under false pretences, a claim her legal team is expected to contest vigorously.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges levelled against her, following which her counsel applied for bail. The presiding judge granted bail on liberal terms and adjourned the matter for a hearing date.
The EFCC confirmed the arraignment, reiterating its commitment to prosecuting financial crimes regardless of the social status or public profile of individuals involved.
Blessing CEO, a Lagos-based entrepreneur with a large social media following, is well known for her outspoken views on relationships and business. The case has since attracted widespread attention across Nigerian social media platforms.
The matter was adjourned to a later date for commencement of trial.
