The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 14 Chinese nationals and one Nigerian at four illegal lithium processing plants in Ogun State.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the suspects were apprehended on Friday, October 23, 2026, in the Ogere area of the state. The operation was carried out by operatives of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 following credible intelligence and surveillance.
Items recovered during the raid included bags of lithium rocks, 18 mobile devices, four computer laptops, two decoders, a television remote control, and a trailer truck.
The anti-graft agency disclosed this on Monday via its official X handle. The EFCC stated that the suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
CDA News Nigeria reports that this operation highlights the agency’s ongoing crackdown on illegal mining and unregulated resource extraction, which often deprive the government of substantial revenue.
