EFCC to Arraign Former Minister Chris Ngige in Court

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is expected to charge former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige, to court today, Thursday.

The development follows the arrest of the former minister at his Asokoro residence in Abuja on Wednesday. A family source alleged that about 20 EFCC operatives conducted what they described as a “commando style raid,” whisking Ngige away in his nightwear.

Ngige had previously been on administrative bail and was cooperating with the agency. His arrest is reportedly connected to a trip abroad during which he lost his passport, an incident he had intended to formally report to the EFCC.

The anti-graft agency is now set to bring charges before a court, where his legal team will have the opportunity to seek bail.
