‘Fake’ Agency DG Explains Why He Established Presidential Foreign Intervention Council

The self-acclaimed Director-General of the disowned Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, has explained why he established the controversial body, insisting that his actions were driven by a desire to attract foreign investment and promote Nigeria’s image.

CDA News Nigeria reports that Matthew made the remarks during a video conversation, where he claimed the initiative was not created for personal gain but to position Nigeria as an attractive destination for foreign investors. He also said he wanted to contribute to the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to him, he was unaware of reports that funds had been inserted into the national budget for the agency. He further questioned how the Presidency could describe the council as non-existent despite its alleged appearance in official government processes.

The Presidency, however, has maintained that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council was never created by the Federal Government and has no legal or executive backing. It has also accused Matthew of falsely presenting himself as the Director-General of the non-existent agency.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities surrounding the alleged fake agency and submit its findings within 30 days.
