FIFA Reveals Prize Money Earned by Teams at 2026 World Cup

Zurich, Switzerland — FIFA has released the prize money earned by participating teams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with champions Spain receiving the largest share following their triumph over Argentina in the final.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the expanded 48-team tournament featured a significantly increased prize pool, rewarding teams based on how far they progressed in the competition. The financial rewards are expected to support football development programmes in participating countries.

The runners-up, Argentina, also received a substantial payout, while the semi-finalists, quarter-finalists and teams eliminated in earlier rounds earned progressively smaller amounts. Every participating nation received a guaranteed payment for qualifying and competing at the tournament.

“The FIFA World Cup prize money structure is designed to reward sporting success while supporting the continued growth of football across all participating nations,” FIFA said.

The enhanced prize money reflects FIFA’s commitment to investing in the global game and encouraging stronger competition among member associations. National football federations are expected to use the funds to improve infrastructure, youth development and grassroots football programmes.
