Residents of the Ajah and Mafoluku areas of Lagos State have been left stranded after heavy flooding submerged major roads and disrupted movement across the affected communities.
The flooding followed intense rainfall that inundated homes, streets, and drainage channels, making it difficult for commuters and motorists to access several parts of the affected areas.
Many residents were forced to remain indoors, while others struggled to navigate the flooded roads. Commercial activities were also disrupted as businesses recorded low patronage due to the poor road conditions.
Emergency responders and relevant government agencies have been urged to intervene by clearing blocked drainage systems and providing relief to affected residents.
The incident has renewed concerns over perennial flooding in Lagos during the rainy season, with residents calling for improved drainage infrastructure and proactive flood control measures.
Authorities have advised residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant, avoid driving through flooded roads, and comply with safety advisories as more rainfall is expected.
