The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to challenge the Federal High Court judgment that nullified its registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), insisting it will exercise its constitutional right of appeal.
Reacting to the ruling delivered by the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, the party’s spokesman, Osa Director, said the NDC was awaiting the certified true copy of the judgment before issuing a comprehensive response.
According to him, the party has already resolved to approach the Court of Appeal, stressing that the decision to appeal is in line with its constitutional rights.
“We are still waiting to obtain a copy of the judgment. After studying it, we will make a detailed statement. What is certain is that we will exercise our right of appeal,” he said.
The court’s ruling, which voided the party’s registration by INEC, could affect the NDC’s participation in Nigeria’s political process ahead of the 2027 general election.
The party, however, maintained that it would refrain from making further comments on the substance of the judgment until it had fully reviewed the court’s decision.
