ABUJA – In a significant political development, Senator Theodore Ahamefule Orji, the former Governor of Abia State, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Senator Orji, who also represented Abia Central Senatorial District, announced his immediate withdrawal from the party in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of his ward in Umuahia North Local Government Area.
The letter, dated November 15, stated that the decision was made after “wide consultations with family and associates.” Orji expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities and experiences during his long-standing membership but gave no indication of his next political move.
His departure marks a major shift in Abia’s political landscape, where he has been a dominant figure in the PDP since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
