Fresh criticism has greeted recent comments credited to former APC House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Chukwudi Apugo, over his claim that he was deceived into joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the criticism followed reports in which Apugo allegedly stated that he was tricked into joining the APC after the party chairman handed him the party’s symbol and took photographs with him.
The critic Pen Caleb argued that Apugo, a two-term member of the Abia State House of Assembly, should accept responsibility for his political decisions rather than blame others. According to the statement, an experienced politician should carefully evaluate party membership and other major political choices.
The statement also referenced reports that a Labour Party aspirant recently visited Apugo following his loss in the APC primary for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency ticket, expressing hope that any future political move would not again be attributed to deception.
The development has generated discussions among political observers, with many emphasizing the importance of personal accountability in political decision-making.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the remarks have added to ongoing conversations surrounding political realignments and internal party dynamics ahead of future elections.
