Governor Otu Pledges Major Enhancement to Golf Tourism in Cross River

CALABAR – In a significant move to boost its tourism sector, Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has committed to the enhancement of golf tourism, positioning the sport as a key driver for economic growth.

The Governor announced this during an inspection of the Calabar Golf Course ahead of the 2025 Golf and Business Tournament. He described golf as a sport with significant appeal and potential to attract visitors and investors.

“With proper attention, this tournament can elevate Calabar into one of Africa’s premier tourist destinations,” Otu stated, highlighting ongoing collaborations with various stakeholders.

The state anticipates a large influx of visitors later this year and is keen to leverage its reputation for safety and hospitality. The initiative also aims to encourage youth participation in the sport.

The tournament, supported by First Bank, aims to strengthen business relationships while showcasing the state’s lush natural spaces and tourism potential.
