In a significant step for community relations in the Niger Delta, Petralon 54 has officially inaugurated Host Community Development Trusts (HCDTs) for the Dawes-Island field communities in Rivers State.
The ceremonies, held for the Ogoloma and Koniama communities in Okrika LGA, mark the company’s compliance with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021. The move is designed to ensure that the benefits of oil and gas operations are directly felt at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the event, Petralon Energy CEO Ahonsi Unuigbe stated that the action was not merely about legal compliance but reflected the company’s “ingrained culture” of aligning with stakeholder needs. He described it as a historic move to “create a beautiful future for the next generation.”
Community leaders, including the newly appointed Board of Trustees chairmen, commended Petralon 54 for its transparency and people-centric approach, hailing the initiative as a milestone for sustainable partnership and shared prosperity in the oil-producing region.
