Governor Visits Plateau Massacre Scene in Armoured Tank

JOS, PLATEAU STATE – Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Monday visited the scene of a deadly attack on Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area, arriving in an armoured tank to assess the damage and sympathise with grieving families.

Unknown gunmen stormed the community on Sunday night, killing an unspecified number of residents in what authorities are describing as a targeted assault. While community sources reported multiple fatalities, police have yet to release official casualty figures.

Governor Mutfwang, who was accompanied by top security officials, walked through the bloodstained streets and consoled weeping relatives of the victims. He described the attack as “barbaric and unacceptable” and vowed that those responsible would be hunted down and brought to justice.

“I am here to feel the pain of my people. This government will not abandon you. We will deploy every resource to ensure the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law,” Mutfwang said.

The Governor also announced immediate relief support for displaced families and ordered a comprehensive security review across the state capital. Security agencies have intensified patrols in the area to prevent further attacks.

The attack adds to the recurring cycle of violence in Plateau State, where tensions between communities have frequently escalated into deadly clashes. The state government has called for calm and urged residents to report suspicious activities to security agencies.
