The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed speculations that he has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
National Publicity Secretary of the faction, Jungudo Mohammed, made this clarification in a statement on Wednesday, describing Wike as a valuable asset.
The clarification followed recent comments by APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, who openly praised Wike’s leadership and said he was jealous that the minister is not in the ruling party.
“The commendation from the ruling party only confirms the quality of leaders the opposition has produced over the years,” the statement said.
“We have no intention of allowing Wike to leave permanently, regardless of political pressure or offers from the APC. He is a valuable asset to the PDP.”
Wike is a card-carrying member of the PDP but is serving as a minister under the APC-led Federal Government.
