The Ikwuano Graduates Forum (IGF) has elected a new executive committee, with Dr. Chikwendu Ugbogu emerging as President to take over from the Engr. Wilson Onwubali-led Interim Executive that had steered the Forum for the past four years .
The election, held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, saw Dr. Ugbogu secure 22 votes to defeat his rival, Chief James Ajuzie, who polled 8 votes. Other members of the new executive were returned unopposed .
The newly elected executive includes Chief (Mrs.) Chibuzo Akoma as Vice-President, Comr. Mpama Chibuzo as Secretary-General, Mrs. Nnenna Okeiyi as Treasurer, Comr. Nwabuisi Chijioke as Assistant Secretary-General, Peace Ralph-Wilson as Welfare Officer, and Chioma-Lilian Onyedinachi as Provost .
Ward representatives include Comr. Okaranwolu Michael (Oboro), Ikeajah Jerry T. (Ibere), Ogbuji O. Michael (Oloko), and Comr. Onwubiko J. Chinazor (Ariam-Usaka) .
Prior to the election, the House unanimously dissolved the Interim Executive following a motion by Charles Onwubali, seconded by Monday Nwazue .
The electoral process was overseen by Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Dr. Kelvin Nnadozie, who announced the winners and presented certificates of return before swearing in the new officers .
Election observers included Sir Prince Kingsley Nkume, representing the acting President-General of Ikwuano Development Union-Federated (IDU-F), and Hon. Obinna Okey, representing Senator Austin Akobundu (Abia Central) .
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Ugbogu declared his readiness to reconcile all parties, stating that his coming to office marks “the dawn of a new day for IGF and Ikwuano LGA as a whole” .
