Ikwuano Rallies Behind Atuma As Senatorial Candidate Pledges Sustainable Youth Empowerment

The APC candidate for Abia Central Senatorial District, Rep. Emeka Atuma, has intensified his grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election, pledging sustainable youth empowerment, improved infrastructure and stronger representation for the people of the district.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that Atuma spoke on Monday during an interactive meeting with APC members and stakeholders from Ikwuano’s 10 wards, held at Umuigu Central School in Ajatanaigu Autonomous Community, Oboro, drawing leaders from the area’s four clans — Oboro, Ibere, Oloko and Ariam-Usaka.

Speaking with the press afterward, Atuma described the gathering as a “family meeting” aimed at energising party members ahead of campaigns for the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly elections, while also expressing confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election prospects.

On his senatorial agenda, Atuma promised “youth-driven representation” that goes beyond short-term interventions like tricycles or buses on hire purchase, advocating instead for skills training and career pathways, including the federal civil service, that allow young people to build sustainable futures.

He identified education, healthcare, road infrastructure and human capital development as priority areas, stressing that an effective senator should be judged by the volume of federal funds attracted to stimulate constituency development, not merely legislative speeches. Atuma cited his prior National Assembly experience as an advantage, saying, “I’m not a rookie going to the National Assembly, I’ve done it before, and I will do it better now.”

He called for party unity and reconciliation among members dissatisfied with internal contest outcomes, describing the mobilisation as part of a broader, bipartisan consensus-building effort. The event was attended by traditional ruler HRM Eze Larry Agwu Ogbonnaya and moderated by Campaign Council DG, Chidi Nwosu.
