Ikwuano, Abia State — Youth leaders and critical stakeholders from across the clans of Ikwuano Local Government Area have resolved to strengthen unity, deepen youth participation in community development, and promote peaceful coexistence among young people in the area.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the resolutions were reached during a consultative meeting held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, convened by the Acting President-General of the IDU-F Youth Wing, Comr. Cokey Lordson Nwachukwu. Participants emphasized that, regardless of political or personal interests, Ikwuano youths should work together for the collective development of the local government.
According to information gathered by CDA News Nigeria, participants agreed that every clan should establish a vibrant Development Union Youth Wing with democratically elected executives. They also resolved to draft a constitution for the IDU-F Youth Wing, encourage wider consultations on youth-related issues, and ensure that all clans are fully represented in youth development initiatives.
The meeting further resolved to hold a unified International Youth Day celebration on August 12, 2026, with Hon. Ify Nwankwo appointed as Chairman of the planning committee. The Acting President-General was also mandated to engage clan leaderships to facilitate the emergence of elected youth executives where necessary.
“There is no need for rancour and bitterness among us. As indigenous sons and daughters of Ikwuano, we must remain united, support one another, and work together to develop our local government and empower our youths,” Comr. Cokey Lordson Nwachukwu said.
The meeting also approved a rotational schedule for future IDU-F Youth Wing meetings, with Ibere Clan hosting in August, Ariam/Usaka in September, Oboro in October, and Oloko in November, while each host clan will determine its meeting date.
