Iranian authorities have called on citizens to participate in large numbers in the upcoming funeral ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing the event as both a demonstration of national unity and a call for vengeance following his death.
CDA News Nigeria reports that senior Iranian official and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf urged the public to make the funeral a historic occasion, saying widespread participation would send a strong message to the international community. He said the nation’s demand for vengeance should “ring in the ears of the whole world.”
CDA News Nigeria gathered that funeral ceremonies are scheduled to begin on July 4 in Tehran before continuing in other cities, including Mashhad, under heightened security. Iranian officials have also warned against any external military action during the mourning period.
The funeral comes months after Khamenei was killed during the opening stages of a conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel, according to Iranian authorities. The ceremonies are expected to attract millions of mourners and senior political and religious figures.
