Israel Assassinates Iran’s Navy Commander Over Hormuz Attacks

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL – The Israeli government has confirmed that its operatives have assassinated a senior Iranian naval commander allegedly responsible for orchestrating recent attacks on shipping vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Israeli intelligence officials identified the target as a high-ranking commander within Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, accusing him of directing a series of maritime attacks that disrupted global shipping lanes and threatened international trade.

“This individual was directly responsible for multiple acts of maritime terrorism. His removal is a blow to Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation,” an Israeli official said.

Iranian state media has confirmed the death of a senior naval commander but described it as a “terrorist act” and vowed retaliation. The IRGC issued a statement condemning what it called a “cowardly assassination” and warned of severe consequences.

The killing marks a significant escalation in the shadow war between Israel and Iran, which has intensified in recent weeks with missile exchanges, airstrikes on supply lines, and heightened tensions in the Gulf region.

The United States has not officially commented on the assassination but reaffirmed its commitment to freedom of navigation in international waters. Global oil prices surged following the news.
