NSCDC Sharpens FCT Officers’ Combat Readiness With Intensive Weapon Handling Retraining

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commenced a structured retraining programme for personnel deployed across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with a strong emphasis on weapon handling, safety protocols, and operational discipline.

The exercise, designed to sharpen the combat and tactical readiness of officers, covers firearm proficiency, safe storage procedures, and rules of engagement in line with international best practices.

Speaking at the training, a senior NSCDC official stressed that continuous capacity building remains central to the Corps’ mandate of protecting critical national infrastructure and ensuring public safety.

“Personnel must remain professionally equipped to respond swiftly and responsibly to emerging security threats,” the official stated.
Participants drawn from various FCT commands underwent both theoretical and practical drills, with facilitators drawn from the Corps’ specialised training unit.

The retraining reflects the NSCDC’s renewed commitment to deploying well-trained, disciplined officers across Nigeria’s capital — reinforcing public confidence in the Corps ahead of the dry season security challenges.
