Eminent lawyer and senior advocate, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, has issued a compelling appeal to the National Assembly, urging them to accelerate the process of amending the Nigerian constitution.
Speaking at a high-level legal conference in Abuja, Olanipekun emphasized that a modern and functional constitution is critical for addressing the nation’s evolving challenges and fostering true federalism. He stressed that the current National Assembly has a historic opportunity to enact reforms that reflect the will and aspirations of the Nigerian people.
The legal luminary highlighted key areas requiring review, including restructuring, state police, and fiscal federalism. He cautioned that further delays in the constitution amendment process could hinder national progress and cohesion.
The National Assembly is yet to issue an official response to this direct call to action.
