Kano Gov Yusuf Sacks Investment Commissioner Sagagi

KANO, NIGERIA – Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has dismissed the state’s Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, and Industry, Ibrahim Sagagi, with immediate effect.

The sack was announced in a brief statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Thursday. No specific reason was given for the dismissal, but the statement noted that the decision was part of the Governor’s ongoing efforts to streamline the state’s cabinet for optimal performance.

Sagagi, who had served in the role since the inception of the Yusuf administration, becomes the latest top official to exit the state executive council. His removal comes amid a wave of cabinet reshuffles in various states as political realignments gather pace ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Governor thanked the former commissioner for his service and wished him well in his future endeavors. A replacement for the position is expected to be announced in due course.

Sagagi has yet to issue a public statement regarding his dismissal. His removal has sparked speculation within political circles, with observers suggesting it may be linked to broader administrative restructuring rather than any specific performance issues.
