DUTSE – In a major investment in public welfare and development, the Jigawa State Government has approved the sum of over N20 billion for the execution of critical projects across the security, education, and health sectors.
The approval was granted during the State Executive Council meeting, as disclosed by the State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport, and Culture, Honourable Sagir Musa, in a briefing with journalists.
The substantial funding is earmarked for a range of initiatives designed to enhance security, boost technical education, and improve primary healthcare services for residents.
Breakdown of the N20 Billion Allocation
The approved funds have been allocated to specific, high-impact areas:
· Security Enhancement (N760 million): The council approved this sum for the purchase of 10 new Toyota Hilux vehicles and 50 motorcycles. These assets will be distributed to security agencies and the Hunters Association to strengthen patrols and intelligence-gathering capabilities across the state.
· Education and Vocational Training (N14.22 billion): A significant portion of the budget is dedicated to civil works and equipment supply for Technical and Vocational Training centres. This initiative aligns with Governor Umar Namadi’s policy to foster a job-driven education system and support industrial growth.
· School Infrastructure (N371 million): This allocation is for the construction of perimeter fencing and kitchens at three mega schools, a move aimed at improving security and creating a more conducive learning environment.
· Primary Healthcare (N3.67 billion): The funds will cover minor renovations and the supply of essential materials, including delivery kits and child health kits, to 30 primary healthcare centres. This project is strategically targeted at reducing the high rate of child and maternal mortality in the state.
Commissioner Sagir Musa reiterated the state government’s commitment to judiciously using available resources to improve the social and economic well-being of the people of Jigawa.
