Join ADC or Be ‘DisObidient’—Kenneth Okonkwo Tells Obi Supporters Ahead of 2027

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, has stated that supporters of Peter Obi who fail to join the ADC can no longer be considered true “Obidients.”

Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Friday, Okonkwo insisted that Obi’s recent move to the ADC as part of an opposition coalition comes with a clear directive for his followers.

“He said all the Obidients should go and register as members of the ADC. So if you are an Obidient and you’re not in the ADC, sorry, you’re not an Obidient, you are a disObidient,” Okonkwo declared.

The lawyer and ADC National Working Committee member praised the party’s commitment to internal democracy, noting that membership is open to “true democrats” without conditional entry.

Okonkwo also claimed that the South-East region has largely aligned with the ADC, warning that politicians from the zone who choose other parties are indirectly supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

While welcoming Obi to the ADC, Okonkwo clarified that the party has not yet decided on zoning its presidential ticket, pledging to support whoever emerges from its primaries.

The call reinforces ADC’s push to consolidate opposition support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
