Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Fayose as the Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Board, alongside the appointment of 25 other members to serve on the agency’s governing board.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the appointments are part of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen the leadership of the REA and accelerate the expansion of electricity access to rural and underserved communities across Nigeria.
The newly appointed board is expected to provide strategic direction for the agency as it implements programmes aimed at improving rural electrification, renewable energy development and access to reliable power nationwide.
“The appointments are part of ongoing efforts to reposition the Rural Electrification Agency to deliver on its mandate of expanding electricity access across the country,” a government statement said.
The appointees are expected to assume office after completing the necessary documentation and other official procedures. The Federal Government expressed confidence that the new board would contribute significantly to achieving its rural electrification and energy transition objectives.
