Kano APC Stakeholders Endorse Tinubu for Second Term, Barau for Governor

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has begun strategic moves to reclaim the state in the 2027 general elections, with key stakeholders endorsing President Bola Tinubu for a second term and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin for the governorship race.

The endorsements came from a coalition of party leaders, former and serving state lawmakers, former commissioners, women leaders, and ex-local government chairmen, who described Senator Barau as the most “marketable candidate” to lead the party’s comeback.

Kano, previously an APC stronghold, fell to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, with Barau retaining only the Kano North Senatorial seat.

In a recent visit to the National Assembly, former Speaker Abdulaziz Gafasa, leading over 200 past and present state lawmakers, declared their support, citing Barau’s impact across Kano and his role as the party’s “lifeline.”

Similar endorsements have flowed from forums of former commissioners, women leaders from 31 LGAs, and ex-local government chairmen, all urging Barau to run as the sole APC governorship candidate.

The moves signal a coordinated effort by the APC to consolidate support ahead of 2027 and challenge the incumbent NNPP administration.
